Welcome to the webpage of the Fourth Workshop on Attacks and Solutions in Hardware Security (ASHES 2020), a post-conference satellite workshop of ACM CCS 2020 in Orlando, Florida, USA.
ASHES deals with any aspects of hardware security, including both theory and practice, and welcomes any contributions in this area. Among others, it particularly highlights emerging techniques and methods as well as recent application areas within the field. This includes new attack vectors, novel designs and materials, lightweight security primitives, nanotechnology, and PUFs on the methodological side, as well as the internet of things, automotive security, smart homes, pervasive and wearable computing on the applications side. Please see our call for papers for further details.
In order to meet the requirements of these rapidly developing subareas, ASHES hosts four categories of papers: Classical full and short papers, as well as systematization of knowledge papers (which overview, structure, and categorize a certain subarea), and wild and crazy papers (whose purpose is rapid dissemination of promising, potentially game-changing novel ideas).
All accepted ASHES papers will appear in the ASHES workshop proceedings of ACM CCS in the ACM Digital Library. In addition, all authors of accepted ASHES papers will be invited to submit an extended version of their work to a special ASHES issue at the Journal of Cryptographic Engineering (JCEN). Again, our call for papers has all the specifics.
The workshop will include several technical sessions and two invited keynotes by Cetin Kaya Koc (UC Santa Barbara) and Mark M. Tehranipoor (U Florida).
We look forward to seeing and meeting you virtually at the workshop this year (please see below).
Official COVID-19 Statement of ACM CCS: Given the current public health situation, ACM CCS in close consultation with ACM SIGSAC has decided that ACM CCS and all its workshops (including ASHES) will take place as virtual events this year. This means that no physical presence is required on site to present papers; talks can be given virtually and remotely. More information on any procedural details will follow soon!
